Overview

This book presents a mathematical explanation of Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) sails. Accordingly, the sails contemplated would be oriented orthogonally to the spacecraft velocity vector for maximumized energy capture. Such sails may theoretically enable relativistic spacecraft velocities, especially when the sails are grid-like for increased mass-specific light capture area. Providing our universe is of a marginally open or open class, the prospects of an eternally enduring CMBR energy source for propelling starships into the cosmically distant future presents itself. Background radiation sails have been commonly proposed as a propulsion means within the relativistic astronautics community and in works of science fiction. This book provides an explanation of how such sails may actually work. The chief operating mechanisms for these sails involves one-sided transmissive CMBR reflective sails.
