Overview

More relevant than ever to our everyday lives, the US Constitution, the foundation of our democratic republic, comes alive in this simple and easy-to-understand short audiobook. Originally published for high schools in the City of New York in 1924, The Constitution of Our Country combines the original document, narrated by Hillary Huber, and clear teaching text, narrated by Stephen Bowlby. Its straightforward language cuts through today's partisan politics, and takes us back to the true original meanings. Hear what the US Constitution really says ... and does not say.

Author Information

Frank A. Rexford (1876-1941) began his teaching career in upstate schools in 1903. In 1910 he became a teacher of industrial chemistry at the Brooklyn Trade School. During the World War he was active in boys' work as chief zone director, Boys' Working Reserve, supervising the activities of 14,000 boys who cultivated 212,000 acres of food. From 1932 to 1935 when he retired, he was director of education, Museum of the City of New York. Clara L. Carson was Chairman of the Civics Department at Wadleigh High School in New York City. Hillary Huber is a multiple Audie Award finalist, an Earphones Award winner, and an AudioFile Best Voice. She has recorded over six hundred titles spanning many genres and holds a bachelor's degree in English literature. A voracious reader and listener, she was raised in Connecticut and Hawaii but now splits her time between California and New York. Stephen Bowlby, a lifelong performer and filmmaker, loves bringing ideas to life in ways that entertain, inviting both action and reflection. With a career in writing, directing, and film editing, he infuses his narration with a strong sense of story.
