Overview
This is a useful companion for rudimentary communication in, as well as translation from and into the relevant languages. It covers selected fields of general interest which is also suitable for primary education. Its size and scope confine its application to elementary practical speech situations which makes it especially convenient or the layman who wishes to acquaint himself with any of the three languages (English/Afrikaans/Zulu). This means that specialised grammatical knowledge is not a prerequisite for using the dictionary. The dictionary consists of two small English and Afrikaans dictionaries bound into one handy volume, with their inverse juxtapositions providing each of the books with equal recognition, and prominence. Zulu is a tone language and its structure is very different to Western languages. This dictionary explains how words are formed in the Zulu language and explains the languages. This dictionary includes useful extra features such as a pronunciation section. This section deals with the 'clicks' found in the Zulu language, vowel sounds and consonants. Other additional features include directions on how to use the dictionary, days of the week, months of the year and numbers.
