"This picture books tells a story about learning to love and embrace our differences and to celebrate diversity. Ollie does not share the same physical traits with those around him. He has a lopsided smile and small almond-shape eyes, and sometimes his shirt misses a button or two. Ollie walks with a limp, has scraggly blonde hair, and proudly wears mismatched shoes. He feels like any other kid, but others can't see it. Ollie longs to belong. At such a young age, he struggles to find his place in the world. His peers don't see the beauty in his uniqueness. Rejection, exclusion, and unkindness only empower Ollie to accept, include, and be kind to others. He has ""many hearts"" and a lot of love to share. Ollie is the first to help a friend who is feeling blue or turn a frown upside down. He is waiting for others to show compassion, empathy, and kindness toward him. Kinsley Titchener has always been drawn toward empathy for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She received her master's degree from the University of Cincinnati in education and applied behavioral analysis and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in education and leadership for change at Fielding Graduate University.
