Overview

A highly imaginative and uplifting tale of a family of small brave birds who by an accident and an act of Mother Nature were born on an iceberg. Follow along with The Birds of Glick and their adventures as they survive and thrive despite having a disability that prevents them from flying. This small flock of six colorful birds are wingless and this presents a multitude of problems. The birds grow to learn the true meaning of family through their perseverance and hard work keeping each other fed, safe and warm. Beautifully illustrated you will experience all the emotions and despair as the small flock struggles to achieve their goals each day. As the pages turn see how they learn to soar. Step inside this close-knit flock and experience their struggles to survive in cold elements while waiting for their family flock to rescue them off of the iceberg An uplifting story of survival, compassion, loyalty, and endurance. This heartfelt story is a first chapter book for children, however, middle school and any young adult would surely love the story. It has also been approved by adults who dabble in children's literature. The Birds of Glick will take you to a cold place and then warm your heart.

Author Information

Erik MacDonald is a writer, musician, and a retired music industry executive who developed his insightful imagination at an early age. Earning high marks on his written material in school he was also reading at a high level devouring the classics. It was much later that he wrote his first fiction book Truth loosely based on his long career at a major record label. Erik is an acclaimed home chef & grill master, guitar aficionado, jazz enthusiast, fish keeper, classic movie buff and speaks cat. You will most likely find him at home keeping his wife Teresa fed, warm and entertained. Sara Murtas is a young illustrator and children book's fanatic from Italy. Born in 1994, she's always had a passion for reading, even before she could actually do so (several childhood pictures portray her at 2 years old, holding a book, pretending to read to her dolls and toys). It didn't take long to realize that her dream job would have to incorporate her two biggest passions: books and drawing. Other things that make Sara happy are food (particularly pizza), cats and dogs, children, nature, deep conversations and good naps.
