Overview

KNOCK AND IT WILL BE OPENED FOR YOU. --MATTHEW 7:7 The Bible has the answers to life's most important questions. But for many teens, and even many adults, God's message can be lost in the Bible's often confusing terminology, dry language, or lengthy history lessons. Who begat who-and why should I care? The Bible: Enter Here opens the door to God's Word by breathing new life into key Bible stories, retelling them in a fresh, fun, and relatable way. You'll discover that the Bible is packed with drama, suspense, and even humor. You'll see that the Bible's main characters were real people, with the same flaws, fears, and dreams you have. And most important, you'll learn how Jesus' teachings are vital to your life today. Here are a few of the characters you'll meet: - JACOB: The guy who wrestled God-and got a nation named after him - PHARAOH: Ten plagues, and still didn't learn his lesson - DELILAH: Irresistible ... and dangerous - SHADRACH, MESHACH, and ABEDNEGO: The ultimate trial by fire - VIRGIN MARY: On parenting the Son of God - PETER: His agony and triumph, in his own words Learn how one man's life, death, and resurrection changed the world forever, and what that could mean for you-if you're ready to knock on the door and enter.

Reviews

This entertaining retelling of beloved Bible stories brings each character to life, highlighting their humanity-and their relevance to today's teens. -Christina Ray Stanton, Award-winning author of Out of the Shadow of 9/11, and former Director of Missions at Redeemer Presbyterian Church (Founder, Timothy Keller) Parental guidance in matters of faith can sometimes lead to anger, rebellion, and rejection if carried out in a spirit of fear or obligation. Leading with generous portions of humility, good humor and (always) love, Spencer Demetros gives parents a soulful resource to discuss God with teenage children. The Bible: Enter Here is an invitation to a conversation about the things in life that truly matter. Those who take up this book with their own teenagers in the spirit it was written are certain to deepen their relationships with one another, if not God as well. -Dr. Andrew Armstrong, Senior Pastor of First Church, Nashua, New Hampshire (Congregational A.C.C.) I love this book! At times it reads like an extended dad joke. It also opens the door to the heart of the biblical message. Spencer Demetros writes with the wry wit and clever turn of phrase that only a dad can capture telling stories to his kids. At the same time, he throws in healthy doses of solid theology, paving the way for deeper questions about God, ourselves, and our faith. Being a dad of three grown kids, I appreciate his humor. After 30+ years in full-time youth ministry I admire the way he calls his readers to engage with the stories of the Bible. This is not a book that replaces the Bible, but it releases the imagination and beckons its readers to seek a deeper truth by diving into the biblical texts. People of all ages, but especially those ages 13 to 23, can find great insight into God and be drawn into the Bible by reading this book. I enthusiastically recommend it! -Jack Williamson, Minister, Conejo Valley Church of Christ, Thousand Oaks, California
