OverviewThe tragic story of George Alexander Gratton (1808-1813) is brought to you by the community research led by St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2nd Generation (SV2G). Revisiting 18th century Vincentian presence in Marlow , was a Heritage lottery funded project based on the preservation of the grave of George also known as the 'Extraordinary Beautiful Spotted Boy' in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. High Wycombe has the largest population of Vincentian's living in the UK of which is where SV2G is based. The untold tragic story of George Alexander Gratton, which reveals his short life and the country of his birth, has remained dormant until SV2G raised awareness over several years and finally raised the funds to preserve his grave to secure Vincentian history in Britain. Significantly, his grave is one of, if not the earliest pieces of evidence of Vincentian presence in Britain. The importance of the project and this book is as an instrumental source for Black history to preserve and share. SV2G is an African and Caribbean organisation that raises awareness through the arts, heritage and culture. Funds raised from this book and other donations received will support the creative and preventative work with children and young people allowing them to, unlike George, enjoy a positive start in life.
