Overview

"This companion to ""The Art of Throwing"" outlines the essential principles and techniques that define the art of holding in most martial arts. More than 1300 photographs introduce over 175 practical techniques encompassing all types of holds: joint locks; chokes; nerve holds; pressure point attacks; takedowns; pins; advanced combination holds and transitions; and defences against chokes, head locks and joint locks. Comprehensive introductory chapters provide an authoritative overview of important technical principles, energetic concepts and 69 fundamental skills including stances, footwork and methods of tumbling and falling. Regardless of the style you practice, these works aim to enrich your training, improve your technique and deepen your understanding of the unique qualities embodied in your own martial practice."
