OverviewThe rulership process in Ijukun kingdom had run smoothly for several centuries until the emergence of King Akhimien, the king whose queen cannot bear a male child. It is believed that the king's refusal to toe the same polygamous line of his forefathers is as an exercise of his faith in the power of his gods to bless him with a male child someday, until death sweeps him off the throne. The people of Ijukun kingdom have barely begun mourning when the eldest daughter of the deceased (King Akhimien), who is married to a young man from a neighbouring village, is persuaded by her husband to sneak into the king's palace and abscond with the crown and a vital heirloom. Consequently, the people of Ijukuntry to resort to gerontocratic system of rulership (government by the oldest person in the community) in order to fill the vacuum but to no avail. Thus, salvaging the situation to achieve restoration in the kingdom will not come to pass until some persons are made to pay the ultimate price (death).
