He has a PhD in Legal Medicine, was a Fogarty Scholar in Bioethics, and has published numerous books, book chapters and articles in legal medicine, bioethics, and related disciplines. His main interests within the field of bioethics are history of medical ethics (with an emphasis on European medical history), research ethics, ethics of reproductive technologies and genetics, informed consent, and medical confidentiality.Octavian Buda is a Professor of History of Medicine at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Romania. He has a PhD in Medical Sciences and an MA in Philosophy. Between 2015 and 2017, he was the President of the European Association for the History of Medicine and Health (EAHMH). His research focuses on history of medicine, the social history of forensic medicine and psychiatry, and cultural and psychiatric anthropology, among others.
