Reviews

Captain Polo's adventures provide a powerful learning tool that raises awareness in a way that's both engaging and enjoyable on a very serious topic that affects us all. I highly recommend this adventure - it is timely and relevant to us all as global citizens. - Dr. Ashton Berry, Global Climate Change Programme Coordinator, BirdLife International. I really liked that the easy to follow storyline created excitement and suspense, whilst also introducing the proper terminology around climate change (words highlighted are found in a glossary at the back), along with some very interesting facts to back up the storyline.... - Susan Fiddes, Reedsy Discovery What a great concept - the comic book where goodies and baddies have battled it out over time - provides such an easy, engaging and energetic medium to understanding one of the most important issues of our time. I am now better informed... . - Liz Carlile, Director of Communications, International Institute for Environment and Development. This book combines wonderful illustrations with an equally well-constructed story of Captain Polo and his Penguin friend embroiled with Conor and his gang of ruffians as they journey from Pole to Pole. Captain Polo's adventures are a great way to get your child started on climate literacy. - Asha Alexander, Principal and Executive Leader on Climate Change at GEMS Education, Dubai, UAE. This is the fourth in the series and it is a definite must-have, must-read book for children and adults of all ages. A perfect conversation starter in homes and in the classrooms. The Adventures of Captain Polo should be made a mandatory read and part of our education curriculum. - Argyro Graphy, Goodreads ...very good to read with children as they are beginning to learn about climate change - the storyline is so good it doesn't feel like preaching. It's so important for children to understand the problems facing us ...My grandchildren are definitely 'on board' with Polo. - Gloria Barnett, Amazon customer (UK) Mr Hesse does an excellent job of making complex issues intelligible without talking down to the reader. This is a must-read book for kids and adults, especially if you enjoy comics. - Adam Thyer, Founder, GreenExecutive.com Results on climate change are shown but not in a scary way. The book is very educational. Sea-level rise is explained. Carbon and energy is discussed. Solar power is shown and described. And it's all done in a very enjoyable way. - Shawn Oueinstein, Goodreads reader
