OverviewGetting ready to enter the teaching profession? Overall, the accuracy, attention to detail, thoroughness but economy of diction of this publication almost precludes the necessity for a postgraduate or formal teaching qualification. Clearly written by someone who has been there and done it. Wish I had it four years ago before I started training and will be recommending it to any new trainees I meet. Your starter guide is amazing! I'm starting a PGCE in 2 weeks and feel so much more prepared... Really enjoying your book, Hari. Written with so much passion, I can tell. I feel even more assured about my decision. Thanks! During my career, I have worn many different hats, as a Computing and ICT teacher, ICT Co-Ordinator, school based PGCE mentor and a teacher trainer. This book is an amalgamation of my thoughts and strategies utilised over the last decade. It is designed to help new teachers who are entering the profession, or provide insight for those who are undecided. The book covers a number of different aspects, such as planning, organisation, technology and 'teaching life' in general. It is generally short and to the point. I don't use much in the way of complex technical terminology. The book provides a flavour of what the teaching profession has to offer, but also an insight into what steps are needed to be successful as a new teacher. If anything I have written can help you become a better practitioner, then I have succeeded in my goal. He had always wanted to be a teacher, right from a very young age. After achieving his Bachelor's degree in Information Management from University College London, he decided to pursue a career in teaching, putting his degree to good use. Giving back to society and shaping a future generation of young people were certainly appealing prospects. Hari proceeded to teach Computing and ICT in UK Secondary schools over the next ten years, whilst also holding a number of different positions: ICT Co-Ordinator, exam board moderator, school based PGCE mentor, and teacher trainer at the Institute of Education (University of London). Whilst working within teacher training, he completed his Master's degree (ICT in Education). Currently, Hari is exploring the world of resource publishing, as well as writing books to help new teachers. A decade's worth of knowledge sitting in his head was best put down onto paper, with the aim of helping as many new teachers as possible. His books are aimed at PGCE beginner teachers, NQTs, School Direct staff and Teach First candidates. However, experienced teachers may also benefit. He has published his first book: Teaching in UK Secondary Schools - a PGCE, School Direct and NQT Starter Guide for that Long Road Ahead. He has recently released his second book: Teaching in UK Secondary Schools - a PGCE, School Direct and NQT Checklist, Being Organised from September through till Christmas.
