They are not designed to be delivered in eight 'lessons' but rather presented as a bank of resources to be utilised over the course of a term, preferably in the lead into an examination period, for example, SATs or GCSEs. The resources can also easily be adopted for use during other stages of the academic year in order to support students of all ages in improving learning and study skills. The eight-session student programme is structured as follows: * Understanding coursework and schoolwork * Organisation, time management and planning * Learning to Learn: preferred learning styles * Revision strategies and techniques (I): mind mapping for KS3 & KS4 * Revision Strategies and Techniques (II): subdividing, minimising, storytelling and recipe cards (KS4); acronyms, questions, key words, post-its (KS3) * Revision Strategies and Techniques (III): walking the line, movie review, teaching to learn (KS4); design a poster, SEGE mnemonic, the burger plan (KS3) * Revision Strategies and Techniques (IV): discussion group, describe and draw, empathic learner, pass master (KS4); file cards, spidergram, mnemonics, constructing a balanced written argument (KS3) * Self-review and dealing with exams Each part of the programme includes detailed facilitator's notes describing the nature, content and delivery of each activity.
