OverviewGrowing up in the developing suburbs of Small Town, America during the 1950's, I gave no thought to the fact other kids lived differently. As Navy dependents, my sisters, Mom, and myself moved every year or two, when my dad transferred to another base, or ship. We moved three times between 1955 and 1960; I attended six different schools before graduating in 1970: Panama, Virginia, Maine, Connecticut, Maryland, and Morocco. Only now, 60 years later, are the effects of all those moves being studied in the field of Education, titled Third Culture Kids [TCK]. Learning Spanish in kindergarten, graduating in Arab-French Morocco has definitely affected my outlook. There was no Henry Higgins to prepare me for the vast differences of my ex-pat world and the traditional suburbian world that had evolved during the post-WWII years. Vol 3 covers the unexpected job opportunity that came my way after the evacuation from war-torn Libya in 2011. This Chevron-sponsored school was a hardship posting, but had just about every amenity any teacher could ask for, and even some kindred spirits. This book is written in diary form, providing a day-to-day account as I adapted to this Eur-Asian culture, even taking several months lessons to learn Kazakh in this former Russian satellite country.
