He was the rabbi of Congregation Beth Torah of Torrance, an independent conservative synagogue, from 2003-2012. Rabbi Spero is very active in the local Jewish and interfaith community. Rabbi Spero has a BA degree from Yeshiva University of Los Angeles, with a focus on Hebrew and Aramaic texts. He has a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Whittier College School of Law. Rabbi Spero received ordination from the Rabbinical Seminary International in NYC after studying closely with Rabbi Joseph H. Gelberman, of blessed memory. He lives with his wife, Rebbetzin Sheryl L. Joiner Spero, MLIS, their two children and four cats in Torrance, CA.
