Author Information

the author lives and trains throughout California. He has earned 5th Dan Black Belts in Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do almost simultaneously and a 3rd Dan in Soo Bahk. The author is married and is a father of three children and grandfather to five grandchildren. Len has been learning martial arts since when he joined his first Tae Kwon Do dojang after graduating college. The author began teaching martial arts after earning a Cho Dan (1st degree) Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do styles. Len has been using aspects of martial arts in his own life for more than 20 years to bring order, understanding, patience, wisdom and self-awareness. The author augments his martial arts training with a program of meditation, strength-based weight training, boxing skills using the hand speed bag, heavy bag & long distance running. Meditation keeps his body-mind-spirit sin-tack, allowing him to train at higher levels while minimizing injuries. The author has written and published more than 25 magazine articles and editorials related to Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do and Soo Bahk for many magazines including the prestigious Black Belt, Mudo Dojang and Tae Kwon Do Times. Many of Len's articles illustrate the forgotten history and evolution of Korean martial arts. For this reason, Len's articles are often republished around the world because of their excellent historical content, unavailable otherwise. The author's magazine articles also appear on many martial arts web sites around the world. Len has also published 25 books on Korean martial arts and Eastern philosophy. These books include the traditional styles of Tang Soo Do, Soo Bahk Do and Tae Kwon Do Korean martial arts. One of Len's books for children's martial arts earned the Good Housekeeping magazine's Seal of Approval. Len currently has more than 25 years of martial arts experience. Academically, the author has earned a B.S. degree in Physics and Mathematics simultaneously, an M.S. degree and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and an Ms.S in Education. The author has worked professionally as a Teacher, Physicist, Astrophysicist, Nuclear Physicist, Mathematician, Mechanical Engineer and an Electrical Engineer and as an executive for more than 27 years in companies in several industries.
