This book is one my toddler asks to read over and over again. The pictures show how the kids and grandpa do different dives into the water which is fun. There's a heartfelt part where the grandpa is missing the grandma. It's very sweet. This is a delightful children's book written by a grandpa about having his grandchildren over to swim in his backyard pool. I've already read this to my 3yr old grandson at naptime and he was mesmerized by it! Then at bedtime, he requested it again! It's a well-written book that children can easily understand and relate to. It is also beautifully illustrated. I can't wait to share it with our 6 yr old granddaughter when we see her soon. She might even be able to read it to me soon. Thank you, Jerry Gale, for this great book. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

Author Information

Jerry Gale has a backyard pool and three grandchildren. They are not named Vera, Chuck, and Davie. He borrowed those names from the Beatles song, When I'm Sixty-Four. He thought other grandparents would find this amusing. He hopes you enjoy his book and enjoy swimming with your family. And by the way, he's really terrible at doing a jackknife dive off the diving board. Jerry lives in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Darcy Bell-Myers cherishes many memories of swimming in her Grandma's pool as a little girl.
