Deb Irsik's Sunshine in the Weeds take your breath away as she explores the human's ability to love, feel and heal through relationships and faith-or the questioning of faith. Her poetry gives emotional flight to those precious single life moments between mothers and daughters, mothers and sons and close friends and family members. Deb's poetry warms the heart in places where the sun has forgotten to shine. -Liz Martel Sunshine in the Weeds, Irsik's maiden book of poetry, speaks to the musicality, beauty, and healing facets within nature. Both faith and nature are key to the reflective, pivotal aspects of Irsik's life. With an honest and heartfelt voice, D. A. Deb Irsik goes right to the heart of everyday life with her new poetry collection ""Sunshine in the Weeds."" A quiet testament to her deep faith in God, the poems range from wistful descriptions of days and people long gone to family musings and travel sketches. Irsik's evocative words honestly portray the rawness and despair of grief, yet leave the reader with her personal sense of hope, encouraging each of us to take a little gut-check of our lives right here, right now. -Marcia Lawrence has worked as a journalist, photo-finish photographer, stockbroker, editor, corn de-tasseler, musician, and mom. She is a lifelong scholar of regional history, an author, and a passionate researcher. She lives in Emporia, Kansas. Deb Irsik's first collection of poetry explores a variety of topics, from childhood memories to family, nature, and grief. Reading Irsik's poems invokes feelings of both joy and sadness. Joy at the fond memories of childhood at grandma's house. Sadness at the death of a daughter who died too young. However, Irsik writes from a perspective of experience that she has survived hard things and can now reflect on these experiences through her poetry. -Lindsey Bartlett teaches composition to first-year students at ESU and is the author of two poetry collections, Vacant Childhood and Between Belonging and Brokenness."
