His research is in theoretical and computational physics, with emphasis areas in nuclear and astrophysics, chaos and non-linear dynamics, and renewable energies. He also serves as Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and is Director of the Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research. Dr. Gary Westfall is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State University. He is conducting his research in experimental nuclear physics at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL), where he has a joint appointment.
