OverviewRip is often chivalrous, helping a lady in distress (Anna), but he loves being a King of the Road motoring along in his RV, having good and bad adventures as he goes along too much to change his thinking about relationships. This book is about Rip Lane, 47 yrs old, who has just retired after 25 yrs as a U.S. Marshal. Rip apparently experienced a disastrous marriage, didn't get enough sex during it, got divorced, and upon retirement hit the open road in a giant Outlaw Class A toy hauler RV (Google it to see it). In this story, he picks up a beautiful female hitchhiker (I didn't know people hitchhiked anymore in these dangerous times). She's got a problem with some mob guys and her brief association with Rip gets him caught up in her problem. Good thing, too, because Rip is just the guy (cue Charles Bronson or Jack Reacher or The Equalizer) to help her, although he suffers big along the way.
