StarKids in America: BOOK ONE is the first in an entertaining series of books and workbooks that focus on civic virtues, American values and the meaning behind the Stars and Stripes. The book series aligns with the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts (fourth and fifth grade) and integrates other content areas, such as geography, social studies, and history. Through humor, magic and adventure, young readers learn about American history, the Charters of Freedom-Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States, and Bill of Rights-and facts about each state in the Union. The book series encourages civic mindedness and instills in young readers a sense of pride in their country. The StarKids are friends from diverse backgrounds who race against time to solve America's greatest mystery: the stars have vanished from every American flag, and no one knows why. After discovering a magic flag, the kids set out to solve the mystery. Each book has a companion workbook, encourages critical thinking, vocabulary development and is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts (4th and 5th grade).
