Author Information

Rabbi Gary M. Spero is the spiritual leader of the Matzo Ball Minyan in Torrance, CA. He was the Rabbi of Congregation Beth Torah, an independent conservative synagogue in Torrance, from 2003 - 2012. Rabbi Spero has a B.A. degree from Yeshiva University of Los Angeles with a focus on ancient Hebrew and Aramaic sacred texts. He has a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Whittier College School of Law. Rabbi Spero was a student of Rabbi Joseph H. Gelberman, of blessed memory. Rabbi Spero was ordained in 2003 by the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York City. A practicing federal maritime administrative law attorney since 1992, Rabbi Spero and his wife, Rebbetzin Sheryl L. Joiner Spero, M.L.I.S. live in Torrance, CA with their two children and four cats.
