He was the Rabbi of Congregation Beth Torah, an independent conservative synagogue in Torrance, from 2003 - 2012. Rabbi Spero has a B.A. degree from Yeshiva University of Los Angeles with a focus on ancient Hebrew and Aramaic sacred texts. He has a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Whittier College School of Law. Rabbi Spero was a student of Rabbi Joseph H. Gelberman, of blessed memory. Rabbi Spero was ordained in 2003 by the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York City. A practicing federal maritime administrative law attorney since 1992, Rabbi Spero and his wife, Rebbetzin Sheryl L. Joiner Spero, M.L.I.S. live in Torrance, CA with their two children and four cats.
