Rabbi Gary M. Spero, J.D. is the rabbi of the Matzo Ball Minyan of Torrance, California. For a decade Rabbi Gary M. Spero led Congregation Beth Torah of Torrance, an independent Conservative synagogue. A practicing federal maritime administrative law attorney, Rabbi Spero has authored numerous books: Resurrection Through Memory & Deeds; Tashlich - a History of the Ritual and Sample Ceremony; Chanukah & Christmas, Passover & Easter, A Guide For Interfaith & Blended Families With Children. (Transform the Oy Into Joy!) Rabbi Spero has a B.A. from Yeshiva University of Los Angeles with an emphasis on ancient Hebrew & Aramaic sacred texts; and a Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude from Whittier College School of Law. After studying very closely with Rabbi Joseph H. Gelberman, of blessed memory, Rabbi Spero received ordination from the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York City in 2003. Rabbi Spero is very active in the local interfaith community. Rabbi Gary M. Spero and his wife, author Rebbetzin Sheryl L. Joiner Spero, MLIS, live in Torrance with their two children and four cats. Rabbi Spero enjoys motorcycle riding, vintage cars, listening to an eclectic mix of music, cooking and reading a variety of books.
