He studied painting, architecture and architectural history in Mainz, Hanover and Stuttgart. Jörg Hempel is a freelance architectural photographer and lives in Aachen. Since 2007 he has taught architectural photography at the Fachhochschule Bochum, since 2015 also at the Fachhochschule Aachen and since 2019 at the Technische Hochschule Köln.
