OverviewThe Author had an extensive career in the area of special education. She taught in public K-12 schools in several districts for twenty-eight years. After retirement, she continued in education by becoming an adjunct instructor at a university where she is responsible for teaching classes and supervising special education interns. Her love for children has always been her passion and focus during most of her career endeavors. She was one of eleven children with a very strong mother. It was her mother's strength as a parent that shaped her thinking and career choices. It was in this personal experience with her mother that she realized the importance of discipline. Discipline was always anarea of strength during her time in the classroom.Stephanie attended Alabama State University where she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She continued her education at Auburn University at Montgomery where she earned her master's degree. Life caused her to change course and she returned to Alabama State University to receive an advanced degree in Education. She also received her certification in Emotional Disturbance from the University of Alabama. She has continued throughout her professional career as a teacher to attend numerous conferences and training tomaximize her abilities in the classroom.
