OverviewThe second edition of Spanish for the Professions is designed for learners planning to pursue careers in professional environments, both within the United States and abroad. Each chapter immerses students in the cultures and infrastructure of Latin America, US Latinx and Spain. The learner-centered approach incorporates professionally specialized vocabulary, dialogues, grammar, case studies, in-class presentations, films, and current event videos that are strategically themed to match each chapter. The communicative and task-based approaches in law, public health, IT, real estate, banking and finance, and human resources align with both classroom learning objectives and practical professional needs. Robustly updated throughout to incorporate changes since the 2015 publication, this edition has been updated to reflect key updates centered around a refreshed order and focus that renovate and inform all 7 chapters. This new edition: - Reframes and updates the legal system chapter. - Expands the technology chapter to cover both technology and mass media. - Reframes the chapter on housing and real estate to spotlight new trends. - Updates the medical system chapter, reconfigured now as health sciences and expands the social and dental services. - Updates the banking and financial chapter to reflect socio-economic changes. - Updates the Human Resources chapter to serve as reference in CV and Resume creation. This text empowers learners to excel on a global stage as Spanish-speaking professionals. It is an ideal resource for immersion courses at intermediate and advanced levels as well as a desktop reference for professionals using Spanish in their day-to-day interactions.
