Goldsworthy is Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at California State University, Sacramento, and served as Vice-Chair of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology for ten years. Honored as an Outstanding Alumna, she also won the Outstanding Teaching Award for the College of Health and Human Services. Dr. Goldsworthy is also Co-Director of the Sacramento Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language Disorders and a partner in the private practice of Speech-Language-Learning Associates. A Fellow of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Dr.Goldsworthy received its Distinguished Achievement award in 2009. Dr. Goldsworthy has presented workshops on child language and literacy throughout the United States and published several books, including Volumes I and 2 of this text, and Volume 3, which she wrote with Dr. Robert Pieretti. Additional publications include Developmental Reading Disabilities: A Language Based Treatment Approach and Linking the Strands of Language and Literacy: A Resource Manual. Dr. Goldsworthy received her doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.Dr. Goldsworthy has received numerous professional awards, including Fellow of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association and Outstanding Teaching Award for the College of Health and Human Services at California State University-Sacramento in 2001. She was also honored as Outstanding Alumna at California State University, Los Angeles in 2003, and received the first ever Distinguished Achievement award by the California Speech-Language Hearing Association in 2009. Robert Pieretti is Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at California State University, Sacramento, where his interests include language disorders, language-based reading disorders, response to intervention (RTI) models, and English Language Learners. For ten years, he has been a Language, Speech, and Hearing Specialist with the Sacramento Unified School District, including serving as its Head Specialist. In addition to co-authoring this text and Sourcebook of Phonological Awareness Activities: Children's Core Literature Grades 3-5 with Candace Goldsworthy, Ph.D., he frequently speaks on child language and literacy. Dr. Pieretti served in various positions on the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Board of Directors, and received its Outstanding Service Award in 2009. He earned his B.A. at University of California, Davis; his M.S.in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, Sacramento; and his doctorate from University of California, Davis.
