Overview

Wisdom cries out in time. In times of transition, she raises her voice. The poems of Sophia's Wisdom trace the evolution of biblical Wisdom, its enlightenment and divine person as the feminine aspect of God. The Shekinah of the Old Testament and the Sophia of the New Testament personify God's continuous presence in, even as the world. With devotional vulnerability, Michael Zysk's third collection peers into the beginning and end of all things in the Holy Spirit. Uniting astrophysics with hermeneutics, each of the poems are openings in a sacred screen--an iconostasis--to Wisdom. Jewish, Christian, and gnostic voices speak Sophia's Wisdom at the gate of transitions.

Reviews

"""Michael Zysk's poems weave an enchanting tapestry, whispering of the mystery that is ever-beyond, whilst anchoring the sacred in the intimacy of here and now. Rooted in scriptural tradition yet written in contemporary voice, each offering inspires deep contemplation, awakening in the reader a sincere sense of awe and wonder. Moreover, each poem serves as an open invitation to a living encounter with the Wisdom that informs the heart of all-being."" --Richard Davis, head of theology and philosophy, Haberdashers' Boys' School ""With gentle erudition, Matthew Zysk presents an inventive and stimulating volume. The verse is filled with faith and breath."" --James Najarian, author of Victorian Keats: Manliness, Sexuality, and Desire"
