OverviewMany parents choose to home school their children. There are numerous commonalities among homeschoolers. All children need to learn how to read and write and solve math problems. Children need to know where they fit in the timeline of history and discover the science all around them. Yet, not all homeschooling families are the same. They live in different places and in different styles of homes, which offer unique learning opportunities for their children. This story sweetly takes the reader on a short tour of the various places and settings that homeschool families call home. Douglas's mom, patiently explains what homeschooling families might do differently because they live in a different place than he does. A homeschool student living in a city has the opportunity to visit zoos and botanital gardens as part of their homeschool day. Where as, a homeschool student living on a island has the opportunity to study sea life up close. All of Douglas's questions were answered while he was going about his homeschool day, doing his math lesson and spelling test. His mom reminds him, that homeschoolers living in different places, also learn the same type of math and spelling lessons as he. Douglas begins to catch on and begins contributing his own ideas regarding what other children might do differently than he does, depending on where their family lives. In the end, Douglas discovers he has opportunities that help him to learn about the world around him. Ones that are different and exciting than other homeschool children may have the chance to do.
