He truly believes that he was born to write. As a child, he was very shy and quiet, but imaginative. He wrote his first poem while in the third grade. In high school, he took courses in Advance Composition and Creative Writing. While in the U.S. Army, Johnny studied with The Institute of Children's Literature. He completed the courses offered there in July of 1980. So far, Johnny has written five children's books. Of those five books, THE STORY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., is a bestselling, 200-word, board book biography. Tatiana was born in Bogota, Colombia. She spent her childhood drawing whimsical characters, playing sports, and laughing really hard. After graduating from art school and getting married she moved to Houston, Texas, where she still draws whimsical characters and paints abstract art in her very old studio. Besides playing with colors, she enjoys the classical music her twin boys play on the piano every day. Her native language is Spanish and she loves chocolate.
