General Wyche's book tells an inspiring story of triumph from very humble beginnings, rising from private to three-star general in the US Army. Along the way, he evolved deep and compelling insights on leadership that will greatly benefit any reader. General Wyche is a true supply chain professional who managed a massive $58 billion global support operation for the US Army. He identifies six traits that mark the very best logisticians. He points out that supply chain professionals must manage the supply chain from an end-to-end perspective. As he says, We must always see ourselves end-to-end. Although these lessons of leadership are often told in a logistics setting, they are equally valuable to anyone seeking to lead people on a journey to excellence. Ted Stank, PhD, Shay Scott, PhD, Paul Dittman, Phd. The Global Supply Chain Institute at the University of Tennessee In the time that I have known General Larry Wyche, I have been impressed with his life's mission to be a strong leader with a servant's heart. His Christian foundation has served him well while being a good steward with opportunities that he created through hard work and determination. General Wyche's journey from humble beginnings to Lieutenant General in the Army demonstrates that his unwavering determination and talents of leadership have been an inspiration to everyone he has had the opportunity to work with. Larry is a clear example of how to succeed in life by helping the people you work with to succeed. Even after retiring from the Army, General Wyche continues to use his leadership skills to inspire and help others working on world changing projects. It is an honor to be his friend. Michael C. Riddle Jr., MD Co-Owner, The Riddle Institute for Regenerative Medicine Larry Wyche has done a better job capturing the spirit of servant leadership in this book than any other author I know. Shirts Off Our Backs, Boots Off Our Feet is this decade's Lean In for committed leaders of all genders, paths, and purposes. I wish I had read this book years ago--it restores my faith in so many ways, faith in leaders, faith in our military, faith in humanity. Any leader will be uplifted, and find themselves in a better place, having read Shirts Off Our Backs, Boots Off Our Feet. Thomas A. Kolditz, PhD Director, Doerr Institute for New Leaders, Rice University Author, In Extremis Leadership: Leading As If Your Life Depended On It LTG(R) Larry Wyche possesses a rare combination of mastering his craft, the science of logistics and supply chain, the art of leadership and the passion to serve our nation. I would trust him to take my son to war. I can think of no higher compliment from one soldier to another. He is the best leader I know. Larry Wyche's book is the best logistics and leadership military book of its kind--every Soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine should have this book as their core leadership resource. SGM(R) Tom Stiefermann LTG(R) Larry Wyche's life is an American success story in his professional as well as personal life. In this book, he captures the tools/techniques he applied; but more importantly the leadership style he employed to be effective and highly successful. I worked with Larry seven years in the field and two in the pentagon--learned from him daily and saw first hand a strong, caring, smart leader who took care of soldiers. General Benjamin Griffin Former Army Materiel Commander
