Author Information

Merlyn Seeley (Retsuzen Shikata) was born in the small rural town of Toccoa, Georgia March of 1975, he comes from a family of three sibling sisters and two of the most loving and supportive parents in the world. He was born into a working family where his father worked construction and his mother worked retail, so because of his fathers work the family moved all the time and rarely stayed in one location more than a year. At the age of twelve the family was moved to a medium size town known as Columbus, Georgia. It was here where his father left construction and settled the family. It was here where Merlyn Seeley begin his martial arts training and interest in Ninjutsu. It was also here where the present day Shikata Ryu was developed. Merlyn went to school and graduated Jordan Vocational High School in Columbus Georgia in 1993 at the age of eighteen. At the early age of twelve when most young boys were playing video games or out spending time with their friends, Merlyn was inside writing short stories and mysteries or outside practicing his martial arts and creating a new Ninjutsu system known today as Shikata Ryu Ninjutsu. At the age of sixteen he started writing poetry and to date has had numerous pieces of poetry published through such organizations as the National Poetry Guild, and Poetry.com. In 1994 he entered the military and after 15 and half years got out and decided to live the rest of his life devoted to his Ninjutsu training, Buddhist lifestyle and writing. In 2000 Retsuzen received a letter from the president of the Poetry Guild asking for permission to have his poetry published in the UK, and so was published in two countries in numerous poetry books. Today his writings have stemmed out to include his love for the martial arts, in the form of How To books and articles on many other topics. Some of his works include the, Shikata Training Manual , How to read people accurately and quickly , A beginners guide to the martial arts , Using herbal remedies , The basics of Meditation , and Living off the grid a beginner's guide.
