Her MSc from the College of Agriculture, University of Maryland, College Park gave her entree into jobs that took her to faraway locales. These jobs, in turn, gave her unique immersion in multi-cultural environments where she worked alongside socio-economically marginalized people. Places she has lived and worked include Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, and South Africa. Her favorite animals include horses, dogs, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, rock hyrax, and Ankole cattle. Susan's hobbies include equestrian pursuits, raising hens, and gardening. Currently Susan lives on a farm in Bend, Oregon along with her husband Roger, three dogs, two cats, six horses, and 19 chickens. She still owns a horse in Ecuador, as well as one in Kenya. Artist and illustrator Christine Eyer loves living in beautiful Bishop, California, where she enjoys painting, tending her creekside garden, and doting on her four rescue dogs.
