OverviewScrap Tire Derived Geomaterials is a compilation of peer-reviewed papers presented at the International Workshop on Scrap Tire Derived Geomaterials (IW-TDGM 2007) in Yokosuka, Japan in March 2007.The workshop was the first ever international forum on scrap tire derived geomaterials (TDGM), bringing together people from various disciplines working in industry, academia and public sector to discuss the latest ideas and development in the field, and disseminating information about experiments, numerical modeling, design and practical applications related to scrap tire derived geomaterials (TDGM). In recent years emerging geomaterials derived from scrap tires have been receiving increasing attention and gaining acceptance as suitable and alternative geomaterials worldwide, since they provide cost-effective solutions to many practical problems. This book presents current research and describes advances. It reflects the international significance of such recycle materials and discusses the use of whole tires, tire shreds and tire chips, as well as tire chips mixed with soils and/or treated materials. The book also includes discussion about the geoenvironmental impact and assessment, with case studies, novel concepts and field applications. It also contains information pertaining to mechanical properties and modeling.
