Overview

YIKES! IS THAT AN ANT IN THE CLASSROOM? Saygar the Magnificent is a hilarious adventure of a socially awkward Joseph Mateo, a mischeivous ant named Saygar, and a whole mess of trouble! When Joseph captures an ant in a ginger ale bottle, he is shocked by the appearance of a weird looking kid in the classroom closet. This wasn't some ordinary kid - it was his ant from that morning, transformed into a human-sized ant. After finding clothes for the ant and naming him Saygar A. Hill, Joseph hides him in plain sight, in Ms, Kelly's classroom: room 106. Joseph watches Saygar's every move to make sure no one finds out his true identitiy - which is hard considering the two wriggly antennae on his head - while he searches for a way to return him to the anthill. Joseph struggles with his shyness and paralyzing panic attacks as he guides the troublesome Saygar through the pitfalls of the human world and temperamental classmates. Together, they deal with a a bossy-know-it-all, the meanest bully in the world, and many other classroom dramas! Join Joseph and Saygar in their wacky adventure! You've never seen a duo like Joseph and Saygar!

Lisa Caprelli Creating Your Vision Blog - Book Review by Erick Kusmirek A fantastic plot fusion between E.T. and Dr. Seuss's What Was I Scared Of?, Saygar the Magnificent by Elizabeth Jurado will warp you right back to your days in elementary school even as a full-grown adult. An easy to read story surrounding a strange week in the life of a 3rd-grade boy that people of all backgrounds, classes, and genders can easily relate to, Jurado's book stays true to the extreme highs and lows of raw emotionality throughout childhood development in a fictional yet down-to-earth tale, reminding us that guardian angels come in all forms, shapes, and sizes... A Sailors Wife Blog Review by Kristal Leon I also love that this story has a multicultural theme that broadens the reader's knowledge of Mexican American culture. Saygar the Magnificent gives readers a little sneak peek of life in a Mexican household. Elizabeth Jurado includes Spanish words such Abuela, Mijo, and Tia that are easy for readers to say and learn...

Author Information

"Elizabeth Jurado was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She grew up experiencing life in a unique way living in the southern United States/Mexico border city of El Paso where the influence of both the American and Mexican cultures merge. This coexistence of the two cultures left an impressionable impact in her memories of the food, the language, and the Spanish tales not found anywhere else. It was those memories of her childhood that inspired her to write ""Saygar the Magnificent""! In addition to her unique experiences growing up in El Paso, Elizabeth Jurado worked as a teacher within the local school districts. After working as a substitute teacher and a first-grade teacher, Elizabeth made a life changing decision to walk away from her career to raise her three sons. For the next twenty-three years, she took on the challenging role of a stay-at-home mom. During those years, she began writing ""Saygar the Magnificent"", finding inspirations from the classrooms where she had the privilege of teaching many young students full of unforgettable personalities, her childhood, and her own sons. Trying to find quiet time to write while raising three very active boys was not easy, but line by line, paragraph by paragraph, Elizabeth finally completed her book."
