Overview

Amanda Jane Rush is living her best life. After graduating NYU with a music degree, her life took a total detour and she became a New York socialite, social media influencer and owner of her own successful branded beauty boutique. Living single in SoHo with her cuddly dog, Amanda spends her Friday nights hitting up clubs and popping bottles with her friends like a boss. But her life wasn't always so amazing. Amanda grew up in southern Alabama with a dysfunctional family on the brink of poverty. Desperate to escape, she found a way to cope through her music and playing sports. Becoming the basketball star was an unexpected bonus, but she knew college scouts wouldn't come calling considering how they tended to focus their attention anywhere else but there. A music scholarship to NYU would became her way out, and as soon as she had her diploma in her hand, she was gone. Her idyllic life is disrupted when an unexpected letter arrives from her mother the same day an opportunity presents itself to take her ambitions to the next level. She hasn't talked to her mother in a decade, but she finds herself drawn back to the place she fought hard to forget, the family and friends she abandoned long ago, and the secrets and lies she would soon uncover.

Author Information

GL Williams is a military brat born in Indiana and raised all around the world. While he was growing up, he acquired a love for culture, arts, music and diversity. He wrote plays that his fifth grade teacher would allow him to perform with other students in front of the class and assembled small handwritten, illustrated books featuring his favorite animated characters that were passed out and read by his teacher and peers. In middle school, his writing and music would continue. He wrote books about his exploits and fantasies and passed them around to his classmates to enjoy, and he performed in Symphony Orchestra. In high school, he performed in various music ensembles, he was an athlete and award winning academic, and he received a national writing award that landed him the opportunity to write, direct and produce a short film for McDonald's with Media Options, based in Chicago, focusing on the benefits of working part time as a high school student. After graduating, he became a single parent, raising his two children. While they were young, he finished his Associates Degree and most of his Bachelors before relocating to the Charlotte area. In his lifetime, he has worked in the fashion industry for a number of leading brands as a star performer in a business management capacity and as a fashion photographer and creative professional. He dedicates his time to causes for women, including domestic violence advocacy non-profits that include The Jennifer Blue Project and Women Embracing Abilities Now, where he was invited to join the Board of Directors. He enjoys writing fictional stories that are meaningful, full of realistic dialogue, humor, and powerful human expression. He enjoys telling real life, however, as a fan of superheroes, mythical characters and space sagas like Star Wars, he enjoys writing fantasy as well. In his writing, he includes life lessons, biblical and philosophical wisdom, and inspirational themes about faith, family and overcoming challenges.
