Overview

"Part pilgrimage and part travelogue, this book of paintings portrays twelve sites considered sacred by Native American tribes of the Southwestern United States. The painting series originally titled ""Sacred Sites of the Indigenous Peoples of the Southwest"" was conceived by Patricia Waldygo and funded by a grant from the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation. The grant paid for art supplies and her travel expenses to the various sites."

Author Information

Patricia Waldygo was born in 1950 in Washington, Pennsylvania. She attended Trinity High School and received a four-year scholarship to Philadelphia College of Art (since renamed University of the Arts). She graduated in 1973 with a BFA in Painting. In 1974, she moved to New York City. Except for a four-year interlude in Jamaica, West Indies, she spent nearly twenty years in Manhattan's East Village, back when it was funky and ungentrified. In 1994, she moved to New Mexico, where she has lived ever since. She primarily paints landscapes but sometimes embarks on a pictorial journey to a realm of strange dreams and mystical events.
