Admittedly I do love that it is not only US athletes like so many books on the North American market - and features athletes in all sports from Syria to the UK to Brazil and beyond. There is also considerable attention to detail in including Disabled athletes every few pages, which takes away the othering tokenization I am so unfortunately accustomed to seeing in similar anthologies of athletes. @thelittlelibrarysociety Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTQDc4NqSR4/ Exactly as an anthology about iconic figures should be, this one features disabled and non-disabled folx with equity, with excellent LGBTQA+ representation and women from all over the world. Importantly, it raises the question of how one tackles adversity and setbacks, with examples of amazing growth mindset and the idea that 'practice makes progress'. @homeplaylearn Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTMCcsAMMr0/ A fantastic celebration of amazing female athletes from across the world who have overcome barriers, experienced failure and success, broken records and made remarkable achievements in different sports. This book is inspiring for young women who have a dream and want to fight for it to become a reality. Read about female athletes who are passionate, motivated, strong and positive - something many of us aspire to be. Discover their stories and backgrounds as well as their facts and achievements. These women are extremely inspirational even if you are not a keen sportsperson yourself. A wonderful book that is definitely one to be shared and discussed. @myliteracyspace Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTVnjkOD54v/ This book introduces children to so many different sports and the brilliant athletes that compete and work hard to accomplish BIG goals. Each one shares a quote that inspire and empower readers to be comfortable in their skin and not give up even when situations seem impossible. @home.read.play Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTUBD4uqyie/ There was a time when the phrase 'you run like a girl' was a derogatory term, meant as an insult, but thanks to todays incredibly strong sportswomen, that stereotype has been turned on its head and to 'run like a girl' invokes being brave, fierce, ambitious and tough!
