After serving 20-years as a commissioned police officer in Montana, Washington State, and Alaska, Tom retired from the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation where he served as an Agent in the Narcotics Bureau. During his 20-year law enforcement career he served assignments as a Patrol Officer, Firearms Instructor, Tactical Police Team member, Gang Investigator, Major Crimes Investigator, and Narcotics Investigator, to name a few. Tom spent more than 13-years of his career working in an undercover capacity while assigned to various drug units and task forces at the municipal, state, and federal law enforcement level to include the Alaska State Troopers, FBI, DEA, ATF, & State of Montana. He has been involved in numerous investigations (both short and long-term) as the undercover officer and these investigations have ranged from street level enforcement actions to undercover operations involving outlaw motorcycle gangs, traditional street gangs and firearm traffickers. Tom's most recent assignment was with a state level diversion group dealing with the investigation of and undercover operations directly related to the diverting, misuse, and sale of scheduled pharmaceutical medications at the street and medical provider level. Tom holds black belts in the martial arts of traditional Taekwondo and a Wing Chun based close combat system. He has had additional training over the years in Tang-Su-Do Karate, Kick Boxing, Krav Maga and traditional boxing. Tom is the CEO and lead instructor for TBK Tactical, LLC. a training company that provides specialized training to law enforcement as well as private citizens, companies, and organizations. Tom developed and has instructed the TBK Tactical Confined Space Combat System (C.S.C. System) to include weapon retention, retrieval, handgun disarming, edged weapon defense, confined space striking/joint locking/take-downs to law enforcement officers from departments across the United States as well as the United States Military. He is also the lead instructor for TBK Tactical non-law enforcement self-defense and concealed handgun training classes and is a state certified firearms instructor in Montana and New Mexico and is certified to instruct Security Guard Training Levels 1-3 and firearms qualifications in New Mexico.
