OverviewIt is 1974 and a reluctant Jamie Raeburn (Archangel Michael Messenger) is brought back from the dead to save the life of an IRA informer and prevent a major terrorist attack on the UK Mainland. It is a job he cannot refuse - the informer is the man who saved his life on his last fateful mission less than a year earlier. That weighs heavily on him. And his task becomes more difficult when it is revealed that the life of a former lover hangs in the balance. That sets Jamie on a collision course with Ultra. Facing an intractable dilemma, he follows his conscience to save that life. The planned terrorist attack is the most serious ever contemplated on the United Kingdom Mainland but it is worse than even the men behind it realise. They are being manipulated and the consequences, if the attack is a success, will be cataclysmic. But who is behind it, and why? In a race against time, Jamie has to identify and eliminate the three IRA Active Service Units and their commander, the beautiful but dangerous Orlagh Duggan. And Orlagh might hold the key to an unsolved mystery - the identity of the mole behind Jamie Raeburn's betrayal. Gibson pushes the hero Jamie to the very edges of plausibility but not quite beyond, he is almost too good to be true but definitely good enough to eat. All the characters are well thought out and written, with a plot which draws you in and refuses to let go until you reach the end. All in all I would recommend this book to anyone looking for anything from James Bond to Romeo & Juliet! The ending suggests a sequel to come - it'll definitely be on my to read list. - Claire Smith, Indie Author.Archangel: Having read The Janus Complex (the first book in the trilogy) I was eager to read Archangel and was in no way disappointed. This book is extremely well written by an exceptional author with a fine eye for detail. It leaves the reader right in the midst of the action feeling as though they are part of the story! I can't praise this book highly enough and well done to the author. Just waiting patiently on the last book of the trilogy now!! Katrina Knowles Author InformationGraeme Gibson was born and brought up in Glasgow where he attended Knightswood Secondary School and, later, Glasgow University. He started his working life as an engineer in telecommunications, work which took him to The Midlands and Yorkshire and which provides background for his novels. After attending university as a mature student in the mid 1970's he joined the legal profession and practised both civil and criminal law in his native Glasgow. His novels, The Janus Complex, Archangel and Redemption (the Dark Secrets Trilogy) are set mainly in Glasgow of the 1960's and 1970's and the political unrest that affected the whole of the United Kingdom at the time. Jamie Raeburn, his reluctant hero, becomes embroiled in political skulduggery and wrestles with his conscience throughout. The books take those who know Glasgow back to the recent past and evoke memories of places, times and situations. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
