She received her Ph.D. in theoretical linguistics from Michigan State University. Dr. Rashidi has published numerous articles worldwide on Durrell's work, as well as on discourse analysis of Afghan Persian and Moroccan Berber, and is co-editor of a volume on language and gender in the Arab world.
