Overview

Do preaching and apologetics go together? If so, why and how? In a post-everything age where doubt is enshrined as a hallmark of truth and any claims to truth are highly suspect, how is a preacher to reach those with questions about the reliability of the Bible, the goodness of God, or the resurrection of Jesus? These questions and more are answered here, and a practical, workable method is provided for preachers who seek to bring together the pulpit and apologetics for both evangelism and discipleship.

"""""Who better than a churchman and scholar, a theologian and preacher, an experienced pastor and seasoned apologist, to remove the intimidation of incorporating apologetics into preaching. . . . Kudos to T. J. Gentry for an erudite, philosophically and biblically informed case for integrating practice and theory, head and heart."""" --David Baggett, co-author of The Moral Argument: A History """"Contemporary pulpit ministry demands an acute understanding and application of the Word to life. Dr. Gentry's presentation does just that. . . . Whether you are a novice or veteran preacher, this book can prove helpful in addressing the tough questions we often face."""" --D. Brent Powell, Piedmont International University """"Preachers who study Gentry's work will come away recommitted to the supremacy of God's Word and resourced to defend the truth claims of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life."""" --Howard D. Owens, Temple Baptist Seminary """"We live in an analytical culture which demands that our assertions be supported by facts and evidences. This book by Dr. Gentry emphasizes this idea by encouraging preachers and teachers of the gospel not only to assert the great truth claims of Scripture, especially with regard to the person and work of Jesus Christ, but to give strong and compelling evidences as to why those extraordinary truths about him ought to be believed."""" --Steve Woods, pastor and author """"T. J. Gentry has developed a resource for preachers seeking to answer questions that listeners have about the Christian message. Writing as both apologist and pastor, Dr. Gentry provides clear instructions with examples to make this task easier. The novice preacher and seasoned pastor will profit from reading his book."""" --Danny Cochran, Temple Baptist Seminary"
