Table of ContentsReviews"""Protestant Spiritual Traditions, Volume Two is a contemporary, experienced view from the Pacific Rim of five distinctive expressions of faith responding to the call of the Spirit. History is balanced with current practice and the use and influence of technology is noted. Whether worship begins in silence or communal prayers aloud, we are drawn into their experience by the Spirit of God. The concluding essays on 'the body' reveal the influence of Christian spirituality on culture."" --Deborah Cochran, Chair of the Baptist World Alliance Commission on Baptist Worship and Spirituality, 2016-2019 ""This volume offers a rare look at the various kinds of spiritualities found within the global church. Some may be close to you, while others are further afield. What this collection of approaches to spirituality demonstrates is that the quest for God and the experience of God may be found through a wide range of practices. This volume should help readers understand the essence of spirituality while demonstrating both common and different approaches to God."" --Cecil M. Robeck Jr., Senior Professor of Church History and Ecumenics, Special Assistant to the President for Ecumenical Relations, Fuller Theological Seminary ""Frank Senn's Protestant Spiritual Traditions, Volume One already distinguished itself as a much-needed pathway to discover the complexity, beauty, and wisdom of Protestant piety. Volume Two deepens the investigation with due consideration of congregational, evangelical, contemplative, and charismatic traditions that coalesce and diverge from the mainline. It also introduces wide geographical reach to East Asia, creation as a whole, and human bodies around the world that reverence God within the erotic and the ordinary."" --Gerald Liu, Assistant Professor of Worship and Preaching, Princeton Theological Seminary ""In this second volume of Protestant Spiritual Traditions, eminent liturgical scholar Frank Senn has successfully assembled impressive scholarly voices from a wide spectrum of Christian backgrounds for a conversation on spirituality--its theological ethos and practice. This feat is significant given that these voices are often not found in conversation with each other. In so doing, he has advanced the work of Christian unity that demands of us to understand and accept others that share the 'one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all' (Eph 4:5-6)."" --Lim Swee Hong, Program Director, Master of Sacred Music, Deer Park Associate Professor of Sacred Music, Emmanuel College of Victoria University in the University of Toronto" Protestant Spiritual Traditions, Volume Two is a contemporary, experienced view from the Pacific Rim of five distinctive expressions of faith responding to the call of the Spirit.
