Author Information

Sheila Wheaton taught kindergarten to 2nd grade for more than 30 years in the public school setting. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Central Missouri and her Master's degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has served as a mentor teacher for the last 8 years of her career and was a finalist for Teacher of the Year for the Independence School District in Missouri in 2000. Even though she retired in 2010, she continues to work as a tutor, substitute teacher, and counselor.
