Cryptozoology, for its part, refers to characters, gods or supernatural processes of a community; generating the emergence of stories and legends, which over time, are accepted in popular culture, as real facts and of great symbolic meaning. Although in Pre-Hispanic Mexico, some legends caused terror, they also generated a sense of belonging to the original groups, adding versatility to their multiple religious beliefs. La criptozoología por su parte, se refiere a personajes, dioses o procesos sobrenaturales de una comunidad; generando el surgimiento de cuentos y leyendas, que con el tiempo, son aceptados en la cultura popular, como hechos reales y de gran significado simbólico. Aunque en el México Prehispánico, algunas leyendas llegaron a provocar terror, también generaron un sentido de pertenencia de los grupos originarios, aportando versatilidad a sus múltiples creencias religiosas.
