Power, Postcolonialism and International Relations: Reading Race, Gender and Class

Overview

Power, Postcolonialism and International Relations uses postcolonial theory to examine the implications of race, class and gender relations for the structuring of world politics. It addresses further themes central to postcolonial theory, such as the impact of representation on power relations, the relationship between global capital and power and the space for resistance and agency in the context of global power asymmetries. The implications of these themes are discussed using a wide range of postcolonial readings and critiques of contemporary issues. By its innovative use of postcolonial theory, Power, Postcolonialism and International Relations offers a new vantage point from which to view issues of global inequality and the structuring of that inequality through race, gender and class.
