After high school, she attended South Carolina State University where she majored in Elementary Education. In her professional career, Shakeima has served in several roles in education, corporate training, and software consulting before starting her real estate career. Her volunteer commitments have included serving as the President for the Jenkins Institute for Children's Advisory Board and serving as a member of the Virginia College Business Advisory Board.
