Overview

Driven to capture the fragile natural landscape of California as it is now - Rich Magram changed his career to become a painter. When he moved to California, Magram was overwhelmed by the environment he saw around him. Everywhere he looked in nature - from the chaparral covered hills to the cliff edges of the sea to blossoming fields of flowers in Spring, he was stirred by loveliness. Poppy Moon is a new collection of oil paintings expressing wonder and reverence for the delicate beauty and mystery of California's natural lands.

Author Information

Rich Magram is a lawyer by training and early experience. After working in real estate and as an actor for several years; he became inspired by the California landscape, and made the decision to start painting seriously in 2012. Part of his motivation for wanting to paint, was to try and raise awareness in people for the value in our majestic and fragile natural environment, and the need to save wild places and the animals and plants that live there. Largely self-taught, Rich took painting and drawing classes at Los Angeles City's Barnsdall Art Park. Most of his work is painted in oil on canvas and in plein air.
