Reviews

This is such a beautiful book. What I love about it is its newness -the creativity of the Concept-Material-Experience (CME) Design Framework is catchy and compelling and really works to make the complex dance of inquiring with learners elegantly simple. I love the idea that teachers work with menus of CMEs and tailor that to their students. One of the real strengths of this publication is the design. I love that it pops up at the reader in many lovely ways. I think you have effectively made the medium the message. -Kath Murdoch, Educational Consultant How can educators incorporate place-based inquiry into their practice? The authors provide lived experiences as concrete examples, along with the pedagogical foundation that affirms this shift. Readers will benefit from the looks like and sounds like of student-driven inquiry and experience-making structured as Pop-Ups in a variety of environments. This will become part of my professional library! -David Barnum, Faculty Advisor This book offers the promise of joyful learning to teachers and teacher leaders, and, most importantly, to students. -Sharon Jeroski, Ed.D., Researcher and Author With the materials, I like how we can use our fingers to learn and experiment. -Victoria, Grade 5 Student This book is a straightforward tool as we transform our schools into places where engagement, focus, purpose, collaboration, competence, and pride are visible throughout the process of inquiry. Misty and Janice create an environment wherein invitation, provocation, and connection light up minds, spaces, and hearts. -Colleen Beggs, Teacher
