OverviewThe book focuses on the planar helix and its variations, particularly for application in travelling-wave tubes (TWTs). In addition, the book also briefly describes the application of the planar helix in circularly polarized antennas. As mentioned earlier, among the different types of vacuum electron devices (VEDs), travelling wave tubes (TWTs) stand out due to their large bandwidth and high efficiency. Also, the circularly polarized antennas are very useful for satellite communication and for reducing multipath effects in communication systems. Key Features: • Provides a comprehensive description of planar helix including its evolution, methods of analysis, and simulation of TWTs and antennas using this structure. There is no other book which provides such information. • Includes detailed field-theoretic analysis of planar helix slow-wave structures (SWSs), providing a good guidance to design of such SWSs for targeted performance. • Provides a comprehensive presentation of the performance of TWTs which are based on planar helix and operate at C/X-band and Ka-band frequencies. • Describes of steps for fabrication of planar helix SWS using printed-circuit and microfabrication techniques.
